How to install Stable Diffusion Web-UI (2024)

Setting up Stable Diffusion on your computer used to be tedious, requiring installations of Python, Git, and the Stable Diffusion Web-UI separately. But now, with a single installer, you can easily access Stable Diffusion without the hassle of multiple setups. This streamlined process saves time and ensures a smoother user experience, making it more convenient than ever to download Stable Diffusion on your computer.

The first thing you want to do is to go to the following link.

The official github for the AUTOMATIC1111 Stable Diffusion Web-UI.

Once on the github page follow these steps.

• Press on the sd.webui.zip to download the zip file.
• Save the zip file anywhere on your computer.
• Right click the zip file and choose “extract all”.
• Press extract once more and wait for the files to be extracted.

Now you should have a folder (not the zip folder) called sd.webui. Open the folder and double click “update.bat“.

A pop-up might appear telling you “Windows protected your PC”. Press “More info” and then on “Run anyway”.

The command prompt will launch and update the Stable Diffusion Web-UI to its latest version. When it’s done it will ask you to press any key to continue, press a key and the command prompt will close.

Now still in the sd.webui folder, find “run.bat” and double click it.

The command prompt will launch and install all the dependencies and the AUTOMATIC1111 Stable Diffusion Web-UI on your PC, this will look something like this.

When it’s done installing it will ask you to press any key to continue. Press any key, now the command prompt will close and Stable Diffusion is installed on your computer.

Once Stable Diffusion is successfully installed, open the “webui” folder. Scroll down until you see “webui-user.bat”. Double click it and run the .bat file, this will download the last requirements, a checkpoint to use and launch the Web-UI in your browser when it’s done. This may take a minute or two. Only the first time launch will take this long, future launches will be much quicker.

When it's done the Stable Diffusion Web-UI will automatically launch in your browser.

First, in the top left select a checkpoint. I recommend downloading a different checkpoint than the default one but we can do this later. Next write a prompt in the prompt field, this is what you want to generate. Now click the generate button in the top right and wait.
